Patient Area Inspection & Testing (AS/NZS 3551 / AS/NZS 3003)

This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to inspect and test patient treatment areas, ensuring that electrical installations and equipment comply with both AS/NZS 3551 and AS/NZS 3003 – Electrical Installations in Patient Areas.

Learning Focus

Understanding the classification of patient areas (Body-Protected & Cardiac-Protected)
Reviewing layout, supply systems, and equipotential bonding
Performing grounding, resistance, and leakage measurements
Verifying socket outlets, isolation transformers, and RCD functionality
Recording inspection findings in accordance with AS/NZS 3551 Section 5

Hands-On Practice

Participants will perform live inspections in simulated patient-care environments using professional test instruments. The exercises include identifying electrical hazards, validating bonding continuity, and completing compliance forms suitable for hospital records.
